**Newly refurbished February 2014** The Red Lion Hotel is a quality pub, restaurant and hotel, conveniently situated on the outskirts of Portsmouth, county of Hampshire, which offers a great deal of charm and excellent value. We are from the ‘Pizza Kitchen & Bar’ concept, (part of Orchid Pubs & Dining), serving 100% fresh dough pizzas prepared in front of you in our open kitchen and pizza oven. As well as this fantastic 'Pizza Kitchen & Bar' menu, we also serve the best cocktails in town! Ian H Durrant has been General Manager at the Red Lion Hotel for nearly four years now. Managing pubs for the last twenty odd years, he is very happy here and states that is one of the best times in his lengthy career! The Red Lion Hotel has been here many years and allegedly was a place where court proceedings were held. Local crimes were judged by officials with the offenders meeting their fate from the gallows opposite the pub! We are within easy reach of the cross- channel ferries and just three miles west from the bottom of the A3(M) and just north of M27 J12 (Hilsea). The pub is an ideal base for visiting the wealth of maritime heritage such as the Mary Rose, HMS Victory and HMS Warier on the south coast. The sea air gives our visitors an appetite - so you'll appreciate our value for money meals, which can be enjoyed in a relaxed environment. Brighton; Southampton; Winchester and Salisbury are all within realistic travelling for simple day trips away whilst staying at the Red Lion. People visiting the area can stay the night here with 16 en-suite rooms available. Wifi is available in all areas including the hotel rooms. We re-opened in February 2014 following a full refurbishment & re-branding to Pizza Kitchen & Bar. Watch you're delicious pizza being freshly made in our exhibition kitchen. Our fantastic new 'Pizza Kitchen & Bar' menu offers you 100% fresh dough pizzas which are prepared in front of you in our open kitchen and pizza oven. Other sections of the menu include a selection of nibbles, mains and desserts. The pub has the full sky sports package - though theres no need to worry about noise as the hotel is located on a different wing in the building. We suggest you try to book early as we are normally full monday to friday
