A REGATTA OF TWO HALVES.

On the weekend of the worst weather of the winter so far, Tom Jeffcoate and Tom Pygall from Notts County, sailing Tom mum's Scorpion, won the 2012 Rutland Challenge for the John Merricks Tiger Trophy.

Matt Biggs and Ben Hollis from Blithfield, sailing a Merlin Rocket were second on equal net points, losing out to the winners by a larger discard in Saturday's series of three back to back races.

The Saturday race leader with two bullets was Ricky Tagg from Hayling Island sailing his Foiling Moth to victory in the Moth winter series. He considered the impending weather and retired from the all important pursuit race as did the other Moths leaving the field clear for the more traditional classes. Full Report to follow.

Class Winners were Moth - Ricky Tagg. Musto Skiff - Richard Stenhouse (Shere Khan Trophy). 29er - Vicki Payne & Stephanie Orton (Lady Tiger Trophy). RS 400 - Stuart Halman & Gillian Greenacre. All were presented with the famous Everards Umbrella and the infamous Rule 26 Tee Shirt.
