2012 Rutland Challenge for the John Merricks Tiger Trophy, Rutland Sailing Club, 4 Feb 2012 - 5 Feb 2012

Tom Jeffcoate and Tom Pygall won the John Merricks Tiger Trophy 2012 by the skin of their teeth. Competing in sub-zero conditions, the Scorpion National Champion equalled Merlin Rocket racers Matt Biggs and Ben Hollis from Blithfield with 20 points apiece from the four races.

Tony Everard , the RSC member who got John started in the advanced art of sailing by purchasing for him his first 420, "RUTLAND CHALLENGE", died at the end of last year. This is an extract from the Leicester Mercury:-

Ben Morgan Band to play at the Tiger Dinner. The casual version of the Tiger Dinner (Please wear some clothes but you can leave your black tie behind) will have live music on Saturday evening from the Ben Morgan Band.

John Merricks, sailing with Ian Lovering in a 420, won in 1994. See the other 19 winners. Next year will be the 20th.
